  • Jackson County authorities say a man missing since last week was found alive in Ashland.
A spokeswoman with the sheriff's department says a caller reported Wednesday that 30-year-old Carlos Ruiz of White City was in a parked car at Songer Wayside on the shore of Emigrant Lake.
Ruiz has diabetes and went five days without the pills and insulin he needs daily, officials said.
He was taken to a hospital and is expected to make a full recovery, the sheriff's department said in a news release today.
Ruiz left his home on the 3600 block of Antelope Road about noon Friday on a trip to get auto parts at an O'Reilly's store in Medford. A check of his credit card showed that the card was used at the store Friday and at an Ashland gas station Sunday, police said.
