State Sen. Alan Bates will host two town hall forums on job creation and workforce readiness.
The forums will bring together experts from the Rogue Valley and beyond to discuss the workforce employers need and the workforce available locally and ways to bridge the gap, a news release from his office said.
The forums will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 24, at Rogue Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 87 Fourth St., Ashland; and 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at the large group meeting room of the Medford library, 205 S. Central Ave.
Panel participants include Peter Angstadt, president of Rogue Community College; state Rep. Peter Buckley; Medford School District Superintendent Brian Shumate; state Treasurer Ted Wheeler; Jim Fong, of The Job Council; Ron Fox, director of Southern Oregon Regional Economic Development Inc.; Nikki Jones, from Express Employment Professionals and Rogue Workforce Partnership; Heather Stafford, of Sustainable Valley Technology Group; Joan Thorndike, manager at Le Mera Gardens; and Jack Vitacco, director of Southern Oregon University's Small Business Development Center. Not all panelists will be at both forums.
