The Suaves at Enoteca

 Posted: 2:00 AM July 10, 2014

Drummer Max Malcomb and guitarist J.D. Brooks play rock, R&B and blues as The Suaves.

The pair, which also performs as part of Ashland rock band The Blue Light, is influenced by such musicians as Bill Withers (whose song, "Ain't No Sunshine," is the pair's favorite to cover), Jimi Hendrix, Santana and B.B. King.

Malcomb and Brooks met as students at Southern Oregon University. They first played together as part of the university's Jam Club and developed an instant musical chemistry.

The Suaves play from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 11, at Enoteca, 17 N. Main St. Ashland. There is no cover charge.
