The Newberg band — Taylor Kingman (lead vocals and guitar), Ricky Rohr (drums), Lucas Benoit (guitar), Kayla Stroik (viola) and Rowan Cobb (bass) — released its debut LP, "Ghosts of Champoeg," in March 2013. The songs play hopscotch along the spectrum of rock styles, with straight-up rock scorchers ("Ragdoll"), folk-hero anthems ("Make War With Your Heart") and alt-rock ramblers ("Oh My").

The Hill Dogs will play at 9 p.m. Friday, July 11, at the Caldera Tap House, 31 Water St., Ashland. The cover is $5.
