Small-business index shows growth

 Posted: 1:15 PM July 03, 2014

The Intuit Small Business Revenue Index showed significant growth revenue in May, growing by more than three-quarters of 1 percent.

That indicates small businesses, with 20 or fewer employees, are recovering from recessionary depths, according to the Revenue Index data.

All industries tracked by the Revenue Index showed significant increases. Small business revenues overall saw an increase of 0.8 percent in May on a per-business basis. Professional services showed the largest increase of 0.8 percent, while the health care and social assistance industry saw the smallest increase of 0.14 percent.

Intuit's Revenue Index is based on anonymous aggregated data from more than 150,000 QuickBooks Online small businesses.
