The Chico, Calif., band — Jeremy Gerrard (vocals and guitar), Katrina Rodriguez (vocals and ukelele), Nolan Ford (piano and vocals), Andrew Alvarez (bass and vocals) and Austin King (drums) — released its debut album, "Make Yourself at Home," May 24. The CD's 14 eclectic tracks include gritty, slow-burning rockers ("The Loom" and "Songs We Know"), soft, folksy sing-alongs ("Silver Apple") and '60s-style pop tunes ("Fast Hands").

The Rugs will play at 1 p.m. Friday, July 4, at Oberon's Tavern, 45 N. Main St., Ashland. The band will be joined by San Francisco rock band Biv and the Mnemonics. There is no cover charge.
