The popular Playwright Public House in Ashland, started three years ago by Peter and Kelli Bolton, has been sold to new owners who say they will keep it pretty much as is.
The pub, located at 258 A St., is known for "pub food" and salads, with a range of beer and wines, fare that new owners Jeanette Myers and Scott Giossi say they will continue.
Bolton said on Facebook that he and his wife are expecting their second child and want to turn more attention to family.
In Myers and Giossi, he notes, he found local owners and "the right people who would be interested in maintaining the ethos of the Playwright that the Railroad District has come to know." The current employees will continue under the new owners, he adds.
The pub will be closed Sunday and Monday and changes hands July 1, then will be closed a few days to upgrade kitchen equipment.
"Kelli and I are delighted to be handing the reins of our little family-run business to another family who have a similar vision of offering a great local pub to the residents of Ashland," notes Bolton. "Jeanette and Scott don't plan to change things very much but will add their own touches to enhance the pub."
