    Ashland Rowing Club strikes gold at northwest regional meet

    Claims three golds, silver, bronze at Vancouver, Wash., meet

  • The Ashland Rowing Club placed first in three 1,000-meter sprint events at the U.S. Rowing Northwest Regional Championships in Vancouver, Wash., last weekend.
    Competing against teams from Oregon, California, Washington, Alaska and Canada, ARC won regional titles in the mixed eight, the men's 2x and the men's eight.
    Ashland Rowing Club also brought home a silver medal in the mixed 2x and a bronze in the women's 4x.
    Rowing for ARC's victorious mixed eight team, which finished in 3 minutes, 30.106 seconds, were: Cindy Bernard, Brooke Fredericks, Erik Glatte, Andy Baxter, Steve Kiesling, Brian Conrad, Rachel Ball and Sara Hamilton.
    The club's men's 2x winners (4:02.253) were Robert Lombardi and Jim Sims.
    And ARC's men's eight (3:18.355) consisted of: Glatte, Conrad, Kiesling, Baxter, Darren Borgias, Jim Hills, Jim Sims and Bob Crawford.
