Florence "May" James passed away Monday, May 26, 2014 at Independence Health & Rehabilitation Center. Prior to moving to Independence, Oregon last year she lived in Ashland, Oregon for over 60 years.
May was born in Spokane, Washington and grew up in Klamath Falls, Oregon. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Klamath Falls. After graduation May worked in a furniture store and bank in Berkley, California.
May was preceded in death by her parents Alec & Sarah "Mac" McPherson and her brother Charles "Mickey"
McPherson all of Klamath Falls, Oregon.
May is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jack James; daughter, Nancy Thornhill and her husband Ron of Willamina; son, Charles James and his wife Linda of Ashland; grandson, David James and his wife Julie of Medford; granddaughter, Sara Floyd and her husband Alan of Willamina; and four great grandchildren.
May was a member of the grange in Ashland, Oregon and was active as a room parent and PTA member during the years her children were in school. She was well-known for her delicious donuts, pies, cinnamon rolls, and especially her homemade peanut brittle. Many friends and neighbors enjoyed May's homemade treats especially at Christmas-time.
May enjoyed being a homemaker and caring for her family. Her warm smile and caring ways will be missed by all.
In accordance with May's wishes, there will be no services.
