Chamber leadership convention coming to Medford

Medford will play host to the 2014 Oregon Chamber Leadership Convention Aug. 14-16 at the Inn at the Commons.

"This statewide convention will provide an opportunity for leaders in our community to come together and showcase Medford and the Rogue Valley," said Eli Matthews, a member of the Medford City Council and information services director for the Chamber of Medford/Jackson County.

The convention expects to draw more than 200 chamber of commerce representatives from across the state. However, the leadership skills development workshops, tours and related events are open to the public.

Keynote speakers for the event include Umpqua Bank CEO Ray Davis, author Robin Thompson and motivational speaker Larry Helms.

The annual event took place in Florence in 2013 and is scheduled for Lincoln City in 2015.

Harry & David CEO Craig Johnson, gubernatorial candidate Dennis Richardson, retired Umpqua Dairy executive Brian McQuade and local chamber CEO Brad Hicks will also participate in discussions.

The three-day event includes: A Harry & David factory tour and visit to the Harry & David Country Store in Medford; stops at

Rogue Creamery, Lille Belle Farms Chocolate and Ledger David Cellars Winery in Central Point; visits to RoxyAnn Winery, 2Hawk Winery, and Southern Oregon Brewing Company

Guitarist Micah McCaw, comedian Sheryln Smith, and DJ DreamWeaver Productions will provide music and entertainment.

Registration fee prior to July 14, including all meals, is $130; bumping up to $150 after that date. Single-day registration for Friday or Saturday is $75.
