Weather service warns of fire risk

 Posted: 1:45 PM June 05, 2014

The National Weather Service has issued a red flag fire weather warning throughout Josephine County and western Jackson County at elevations below 2,000 feet.

The warning, which is due to strong winds and dry conditions in the area, will remain in effect until 8 tonight, according to the NWS in Medford.

Winds out of the north gusting to 25 mph and a relative humidity between 10 and 15 percent could enable a fire to grow rapidly, the warning said.

Portions of Siskiyou County in northern California are also affected by the warning
