  • A construction crew working in Phoenix hit a gas line this morning, causing a leak that prompted the lockdown of Phoenix High School and the evacuation of neighboring homes, fire officials said.
Jackson County Fire District No. 5 Capt. Bob Holt said workers struck the roughly 2-inch line while digging around 10 a.m.
Rose Street was closed between Cheryl Lane and Bolz Road until utility crews could shut down and fix the line. The repairs took about 45 minutes.
