Sept. 15, 1929 - June 1, 2014

Tom Katsantones passed away peacefully Sunday, June 1, 2014. He was born and raised in Berkeley, Calif. and spent most of his life in the Bay Area. Tom moved to Ashland in 1996.

For most of his life, Tom was an amazing builder and general contractor, and for a decade owned the popular Vince's Restaurant in Oakland, Calif. Tom served three years in the Korean War as a chef in the U.S. Army. He was known for his great sense of humor, strong work ethic, high standards of building, close friendships, enjoyment of fine food and celebration, and as a bus and motorhome conversion enthusiast.

Tom was preceded in death by his daughter, Elaina. He is survived by his son, Nick; daughters, Maria and Diana; five grandchildren, Alex, Nick, Athena, Luke, and Jake; and his sister, Joyce. He also leaves behind many friends and admirers.

A local celebration of Tom's life will be held at Omar's Restaurant in Ashland, Ore. Wednesday, June 4, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Additional services will take place in California later this summer.
