Best bets for Thursday

 Posted: 7:20 AM May 29, 2014

Good morning. Here are your best bets for things to do around Jackson County today:

  • The Wild Rogue Pro Rodeo will kick off at 7 p.m. today at the Jackson County Fairgrounds, 1 Peninger Road, in Central Point. There will be bull riding, roping events, steer wrestling and barrel racing. Tickets are $13 in advance or $18 at the door, and $7 for children. The event continues Friday and Saturday. Visit for more information.
  • Southern Oregon University and the Museum of Tolerance will hold a video conference with Holocaust survivor Elane Geller. The free event will be held 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Meese Auditorium in the SOU art building. The event is free and open to the public.
  • According to the National Weather Service, it's looking like the forecast calls for sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 70s to low 80s the rest of the week. There are plenty of parks to choose from, so why not go take a walk in one? See a directory of Medford parks at For Ashland parks, see
  • And while you're outside, why not pay a visit to the weekly Medford outdoor market? It's held 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Medford Armory, 1701 S. Pacific Highway. Hosted by the Rogue Valley Growers and Crafters Market, the event features numerous local foods, produce and crafts. Visit for more details.
