UPDATE 7:20 p.m. Both southbound lanes and the northbound fast lane are now open after a truck rolled and spilled its cargo, Oregon Department of Transportation spokesman Gary Leaming said.
The crashed semi truck spilled cans and boxes across the freeway, said Lt. Greg Hastings, of the Oregon State Police. The driver escaped with minor injuries.
Leaming said ODOT sent a plow to remove debris from the roadway.
"As I understand, they are cleaning it up, just doing the salvage," Leaming said.
4:30 p.m. A truck crash south of Ashland has spilled vegetables across Interstate 5, closing lanes and slowing traffic, the Oregon Department of Transportation reports.
A commercial truck carrying fresh vegetables crashed near mile 11. Both north- and southbound fast lanes are closed. Slow lanes are open so traffic can get by while emergency crews work, ODOT reports.
Drivers should expect delays and congestion during clean-up work, officials said.
