Bear Camp Road is open and ready for public travel for rafters, hikers and others who frequent this shortcut through the Siskiyou Mountains between the Rogue River outposts of Galice and Agness.
The Forest Service normally opens the road by Memorial Day weekend after a week of plowing snow.
But this year's record low snowpack has the road snow-free and ready for travel without any plowing necessary.
All seasonal gate closures, including gates off the Peavine-Serpentine and Galice Access roads, also have been lifted.
Bear Cramp Road is a one-lane paved road with pullouts. Road crews may be working on isolated slides, so travel with caution, according to the Forest Service.
