A 25-year-old Ashland man will spend 14 months in prison for possessing images of child pornography on compact discs found in his home, authorities said.
Peter Arthur Turati pleaded guilty to three of the 10 counts of second-degree encouraging child sexual abuse charges in a plea deal Wednesday in Jackson County Circuit Court.
Judge Patricia Crain ordered that Turati report to the state Department of Corrections on June 16 to serve his sentence, according to court records. After his prison term, Turati will then serve two years' probation.
Based on a tip, detectives went to Turati's apartment in the 100 block of California Street, where Turati consented to a search of his CDs and computer, Jackson County Chief Deputy District Attorney Jeremy Markiewicz said.
Detectives found child pornography images, but no evidence that they were duplicated, Markiewicz said.
Turati told detectives he had made those images as a teenager while living in California but never erased them, Markiewicz said.
