Grace Christian Schools has named Phil Long the new principal of Cascade Christian High School.
Long will retire from his position as superintendent of the Medford School District June 30 and will begin his new job Aug. 1.
"Dr. Long brings much experience and an enthusiasm for helping students become successful," Head of Schools Devon Rickabaugh said in a news release. "We are pleased to have him complete our administrative leadership team and look forward to the exciting things that will happen for students at our high school."
Long served the Medford School District for 30 years in a variety of roles, including a middle and high school teacher, a high school administrator, curriculum director, elementary education director and, for the last nine years, superintendent.
"I admire the service that Grace Christian Schools has provided to our community over the past several decades," said Long in his statement of acceptance. "The schools offer excellent academics, activities, and athletics in a caring, Christ-centered, learning community. I am thankful that I can continue to serve students in our region in this new role and am extremely excited to be working directly with teachers and students again."
In his new position, Long will oversee learning for about 350 students and supervise about 43 staff members, including his wife, Lori, who has taught English at the school since 2007.
