With percussionist Michael Whipple on cajon, cajonito and Wavedrum — an electronic drum that can create the sounds of the tabla, udu, djembe and others — and guitarist Martin Vee on nylon-string guitar, this duo plays rhythmic, multilayered world music and nouveau flamenco. Vee draws from North African pop and Spanish influences for the melodies and punctuates them with improvisational vocal sounds. The duo also throws flute and violin into the mix. Vee and Whipple will perform from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 16, at Belle Fiore, 955 Dead Indian Memorial Road. Admission is free. See www.bellefiorewine.com.
