A 25-year-old Ashland man will spend 14 months in state prison for illegally possessing child pornography images on compact discs found in his home, authorities said.
Peter Arthur Turati pleaded guilty to three of the 10 counts of second-degree encouraging child sexual abuse in a plea deal today in Jackson County Circuit Court.
Circuit Court Judge Patricia Crain ordered that Turati report to the state Department of Corrections on June 16 to serve his sentence. After his prison term, Turati will then serve two years probation.
Based on a tip, detectives went to Turati's apartment on the 100 block of California Street, where Turati consented to a search of his CDs and computer, Jackson County Chief Deputy District Attorney Jeremy Markiewicz, said.
Detectives found child pornography images, but no evidence that they were duplicated, Markiewicz said.
Turati told detectives he had made those images as a teenager while living in California, but never erased them, Markiewicz said.
