  • Wandering wolf OR-7 may have found a mate in the South Cascades.
Recently, remote cameras on the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest captured several images of what appears to be a black female wolf in the same area where OR-7 is currently located. The images were found by wildlife biologists when they checked cameras on May 7.
U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service biologist John Stephenson says it's not definitive, but likely that OR-7 has "paired up" with a female and that data sent by his GPS-transmitting collar shows he might have denned. If that's the case, the pair would be rearing pups now, he says.
