The Nashville- and Los Angeles-based blues duo Smooth Hound Smith plays a modern interpretation of American roots, rock and soul music.
The duo — Zack Smith (guitar, vocals, foot drums, harmonica) and Caitlin Doyle (vocals, additional percussion) — formed in Nashville in the summer of 2012 and, after a few self-booked national tours, released its debut, self-titled album in May 2013. The album features songs that run the stylistic spectrum of American music from folk ("Young and Golden") to Southern soul ("Be My Husband"), bluegrass ("Blue Dress") and over-driven blues ("Steal Your Crown").
Currently, Smith and Doyle split their time between Nashville, Los Angeles and their tour van.
Smooth Hound Smith will play at 9 p.m. Friday, May 9, at Caldera Tap House, 31 Water St., Ashland. The cover is $5.
