Chris Robinson Brotherhood, the Los Angeles-based side project of The Black Crowes singer and guitarist Chris Robinson, plays soulful roots rock music straight out of the '70s.
The band — which includes guitarist Neal Casal, keyboard player Adam McDougall, drummer George Sluppick and bassist Mark Dutton — released its third studio album, "Phosphorescent Harvest," on April 29. The album's 10 songs, written by Robinson and Casal, kick off with the spacey intro to "Shore Power" and feature soft ballads ("About a Stranger"), slow-burning blues ("Jump the Turnstile") and dancible rock 'n' roll tracks ("Badlands").
Chris Robinson Brotherhood perform at 8 p.m. Thursday, May 8, at the Historic Ashland Armory, 208 Oak St., Ashland. Tickets cost $20.
