Ashland residents can dispose of yard debris for free May 4

 Posted: 11:45 AM April 25, 2014

Ashland residents can dispose of yard debris for free during the third annual Firewise Clean-Up Day sponsored by Ashland Firewise Commission and Ashland Fire and Rescue.

Leaves, pine needles, small branches, brush and other yard debris can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at Valley View Transfer Station, 3000 N. Valley View Road, Ashland.

No trash, stumps, logs, firewood or treated lumber will be accepted, as the materials collected will be composted, organizers said. Plastic bags must be emptied on site and taken home.

Participants must bring identification, such as a driver's license or utility bill, that shows their name and Ashland address. No assistance unloading debris from a vehicle is available, so be prepared with gloves or other tools needed.
