Nearly 96,000 pounds of Oscar Mayer Classic Wieners are being recalled because they are labeled incorrectly.
A news release from the U.S. Department of Agriculture says the packages of Classic Wieners may contain Classic Cheese Dogs, and that the packages do not show ingredients associated with pasteurized cheese in them. The cheese dogs were formulated with milk, a potential allergen, and it is not declared on the labels.
The products are in 16-ounce packages of "Classic Wieners Made with Turkey & Chicken, Pork Added" produced March 2 and 3. They bear the establishment number "Est. 537H" inside the USDA mark of inspection and have a "Use By" label of "16 Jun 2014," along with product code "044700000632." Additionally, cases of 16-ounce packages of "Classic Cheese Dogs Made with Turkey & Chicken, Pork Added, and Pasteurized Cheese Product" with the same "Use By" date and case code "00447000005300" are also subject to recall.
The products were distributed retail stores nationwide. There have been no reports of reactions due to consumption of the products.
