Catch a sneak preview of opera by two locals

 Posted: 1:15 PM April 18, 2014

A sneak preview of an opera penned by two Southern Oregonians about post-traumatic stress and its impact on veterans will be presented from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at Paschal Winery, 1122 Suncrest Road, Talent.

"The Canticle of the Black Madonna," written and composed by Phoenix residents Ethan Gans-Morse and Tiziana DellaRovere, tells the story of a soldier's journey home from war and of his wife's struggle to endure the changes in him brought on by PTSD, all in the midst of the 2010 Gulf oil spill.

Gans-Morse and DellaRovere will be present at the event, along with a veteran and his wife, who will discuss combat trauma. The event is free, but donations will be accepted. The opera will premiere in Portland Sept. 5 and 6.
