Republican Rep. Greg Walden is holding an art contest for high school students throughout Oregon's Second Congressional District, including central, southern and eastern Oregon.

The 2014 Congressional Art Competition gives participants a chance to have their two-dimensional works displayed in the U.S. Capitol building and receive complimentary round-trip airfare for two to Washington D.C. Runners-up will have their artwork displayed in one of Walden's offices in Bend, Medford, La Grande or Hood River.

Participants should submit up to two photographs of their works no later than Monday, May 5. The photographs should be emailed to, along with the entrant's name, phone number, address and high school they attend.

A panel will judge the submissions and select a winner and runner-up. Accepted mediums include paintings, drawings, collages and photographs.

Artwork must be two-dimensional. Each framed artwork can be no larger than 28 inches high, 28 inches wide and 4 inches deep. If artwork is selected as a winner, it must arrive framed and must still measure no larger than the above maximum dimensions. No framed piece should weigh more than 15 pounds.

Entries must be original and cannot violate copyright laws.
