Ashland council to discuss TAP line connection

 Posted: 2:00 AM April 17, 2014

The Ashland City Council will hold a special meeting to discuss the proposed Talent-Ashland-Phoenix water line, which is estimated to cost $4.3 million rather than an original estimate of $2.3 million.

The council will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, in the Ashland Civic Center Council Chambers, 1175 E. Main St.

Councilors ran out of time to discuss the TAP line during a meeting earlier this week.

The project must be handled quickly in order to meet the city's goal to have the line completed by mid-August.

Ashland is bracing for drought conditions this summer because of low mountain snowpack levels.

TAP already stretches to Talent, and once extended to Ashland, will bring supplemental water from Medford to Ashland.
