Students help fix up Lithia Park benches

 Posted: 12:25 PM April 15, 2014

The Ashland Lions Club and middle and high school students team up to sand and repaint benches at the Lithia Park bandshell Saturdays, April 26 and May 3.

This project is designed to help the students learn about community service, organizers said. During the summer, the Ashland Lions Club sells ice cream at the Ashland City Band concerts on Thursday nights. Profits from sales are divided between band programs at Ashland Middle and High schools.

The work will happen from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each Saturday. High school students will work on April 26 and middle school students will work May 3. Volunteers will meet at the Ashland Parks Department shop at the intersection of Winburn Way and Granite Street.
