Community Health Center has laid off seven support and administrative staff members.
CEO William North said today there are five fewer providers than a year ago because the clinic has struggled to find primary care providers as medical staffs around the country compete for physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants.
Without primary care providers, Community Health Center sees fewer patients and reimbursements fall.
The layoffs will reduce CHC's full-time-equivalent staff to 92, North said. All told, it has about 120 employees. The cuts included records, registration and administrative staff.
CHC's budget for fiscal 2014, ending June 30, is $8.5 million, of which $1.9 million is covered by grants.
