Multi-instrumentalist Tony Smiley is the one-man band known as The Loop Ninja for written and improvised rock, hip-hop and reggae music that he records — using guitar, keyboard, drum machines, vocals and beat-box sounds — and loops to back his vocals, raps, riffs and melodies.
Smiley took third place in the 2010 National Boss Loop Contest in Hollywood, Calif. He now teaches clinics, hosted by Boss, on how to use loop pedals creatively in music.
Smiley plays at 10 p.m. Thursday, April 3, at Lounge South, 66 S. Pioneer St., Ashland. He will be joined by rapper Mosley Wotta. There is a $5 cover charge. Show your Ashland Independent Film Festival pass to receive $1 off of the cover charge.
