  • An Ashland Parks and Recreation controlled burn south of town caught into some trees and burned about a quarter-acre before parks employees and firefighters snuffed it out, an Ashland Fire & Rescue official said.
The controlled burn was south of Park Street near the White Rabbit Trail. Chris Chambers, AFR Forestry Division chief, said it's not uncommon for controlled burns to slop over into nearby vegetation. The fire, which started earlier this afternoon, was quickly contained, he said.
