  • PHOENIX, Ariz. — Ashland managed just two hits against Castle View pitchers Tyler Henninger and Mitch Bivona and left Arizona winless in three tries after an 11-1 setback Friday at Moon Valley High School.
Max Montgomery and Aaron Scott had one hit apiece for the Grizzlies (0-3), who fell behind 3-0 in the first inning when Castle View (3-3) of Castle Crock, Colo., took advantage of four base on balls and an error.
Ashland starter Jerry Carroll was pulled in the first inning and replaced with Tommy Hulick, who surrendered two runs in 4 2/3 innings.
Kyle Milgrim took over in the top of the sixth and was tagged for six runs, five earned, on eight hits, including back-to-back RBI doubles by Trevor Smeeton and Tyler Eickstaedt.
Needing a run to extend the game, the Grizzlies couldn't threaten against Sabercats' relief pitcher Mitch Bivona, who struck out the side.
Scott's single to right brought home Vince Cammarota for Ashland's only run of the game in the fifth.
