The Ashland High School Theater Department performs eight award-winning pieces that will be featured at a state competition next week.
The department's showcase includes monologues, scenes and musical numbers. It is set for 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 31, at the school's Mountain Avenue Theater, 201 S. Mountain Ave., Ashland.
The student performers scored in the top 15 percent at the Oregon Regional Acting Competition showcase and will head to the State Thespian Festival in Salem on Wednesday, April 2.
At the festival, Ashland theater students also will present technical entries, a one-act play and workshops for fellow students, Betsy Bishop, who sponsors the school's thespian troupe, said in a news release.
Tickets for Monday's showcase cost $5 for students and seniors and $10 for general admission. Proceeds will be split between The Maslow Project, a resource center for homeless teens in the Rogue Valley; Doctors Without Borders and scholarships to help pay the costs of attending the state festival.
