 Posted: 12:20 PM March 19, 2014

The Jackson County Bridge Club will host an American Contract Bridge League-sanctioned, duplicate bridge Sectional Tournament Friday through Sunday, March 21-23, at Dan Voorhies Bridge Center, 4149 S. Pacific Highway, Phoenix.

The tournament is expected to draw players and club champions from throughout Southern Oregon and Northern California.

The tournament will run games available for players of different levels, from pairs on Friday and Saturday to Swiss Teams (where four players team up to play different matches) on Sunday. Each day has two sessions, but on Sunday the teams play both. On Friday and Saturday, players can join either the morning or afternoon sessions.

Cost is $8 per session for players with fewer than 50 Masterpoints, and $9 per session for those with more than 50 MPs ($12 for non-ACBL members).

Bridge games start at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Participants are asked to arrive 45 minutes prior to reserve their pairs. For more information, phone 541-772-3285.

The duplicate-bridge tournament Regional — which only happens every few years — will be held in Medford Aug. 4-10 at the Inn at the Commons. For more information, visit http://tournaments.acbl.org/schedule.php?tourid=20083.

The Jackson County Bridge Club conducts duplicate bridge nearly every day of the week, including some nights, and its membership numbers 300 card-playing members. See its website at www.unit484.org.
