The Jackson County Sheriff's Department presents a free community forum to look at problems drugs cause locally.
The sheriff's department, Medford police, Jackson County Health and Human Services and Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center will discuss the issue 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, at the Smullin Education Center on the Rogue Regional Medical Center campus, 2825 E. Barnett Road, Medford.
The forum will cover why the region is a hot spot for drugs and drug use and trends seen here now. Presenters will talk about the effects on law enforcement, the jail and hospitals, and how they are handling the increasing problem.
The discussion used photographs and videos on the subject that may include explicit language and images.
The forum is part of a series covering issues the sheriff's department deals with. Past events have discussed gangs and mental illness. Forums are planned on fraud, scams and identity theft, children's issues, and search and rescue.
