  • The American Civil Liberties Union will talk about a 2004 Jacksonville protest case that will be heard by the U.S. Supreme Court.
The meeting on Wood v. Moss will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at the Southern Oregon University Hannon Library, room no. 352, on the Ashland campus. The meeting is free to attend.
The case will be argued before the U.S. Supreme Court March 26 in Washington, D.C.
The case concerns an incident from October 2004 where anti-George W. Bush picketers clashed with state and local law enforcement during a presidential campaign visit. The ACLU Foundation of Oregon filed the federal lawsuit against the U.S. Secret Service, as well as state and local police agencies and individual agents and officers, for allegedly moving forcefully against the picketers.
