  • More than 875,000 visitors to Oregon national parks spent $58.5 million and helped maintain 924 jobs in 2012, a new report from the National Park Service shows.
    Crater Lake National Park, John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, the Oregon Caves National Monument and parts of the Fort Vancouver Historic Site, Lewis and Clark Historical Park and Nez Perce National Historical Park were included in the report.
    The analysis was conducted by U.S. Geological Survey economists Catherine Cullinane Thomas and Christopher Huber and Lynne Koontz of the National Park Service. The full report is available online at www.nature.nps.gov/socialscience/economics.cfm.
