Jive Coulis is a band out of time. A tight and powerful rhythm section coupled with guitar drenched in reverb and phaser sounds harkens back to the psychedelic rock bands of the 1960s and '70s.
On its second album, "Sauce," the band — which features Eric Leadbetter on guitars and vocals, Jordan Mack on bass and Collin Braley on drums — emulates power trios such as Cream and The Jimi Hendrix Experience. The band is working on a third full-length album to be released in the spring.
Jive Coulis will play the Umphry's McGee after-party at midnight, Wednesday, March 12, at Lounge South, 66 Pioneer St., Ashland. There is a $5 cover.
