Jackson County had the third highest number of applications for medical marijuana dispensaries in the state on Monday, behind Multnomah and Lane counties.
According to the Oregon Health Authority, Jackson County had 18 applications compared with Multnomah at 135 and Lane at 41. Deschutes County came in fourth at 17 applications.
Monday marked the start of a new medical marijuana dispensary program established by House Bill 3460.
Health Authority officials expected up to 200 applications on the first day.
Statewide, 289 applications were received by the Oregon Health Authority, with 200 received within an hour after the program launched Monday.
