PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — Jason Allred had an outstanding round, shooting a bogey-free, 4-under 66 Friday, but he was unable to overcome a first-round 75 and missed the cut by one stroke at the Honda Classic.

The cut was at even par.

The 33-year-old Ashland native birdied the last two holes — and had a shot at eagle on the par-5 18th — to make a spirited run at making the cut.

Allred made a 6-foot birdie putt at the par-3 17th, then hit the green in two at No. 18. His 36-foot eagle attempt missed, leaving a 4-inch birdie putt.

His other birdies came at the third and 10th holes.

Only five players had better rounds Friday.
