  • Friends of the Animal Shelter is helping the Oregon Shakespeare Festival find a dog star for the play "The Two Gentlemen of Verona."
The pooch picked to play Crab will sit or be held while on stage and should be small enough to be carried, officials said.
FOTAS has been invited to find six dog candidates, focusing on pets adopted from the Jackson County Animal Shelter.
Pet owners should send a photo and/or video of their dog, along with details such as age, weight, sex, breed, personality characteristics, commands known and when and where the dog was adopted, as well as their phone number. They should also include how they would make the dog available during the run of the play, which opens June 15 and ends Oct. 5 with two plays a week. Rehearsals start April 2.
Information must be sent to Tracy Gault at fotas97520@gmail.com by March 2.
Selected dogs will audition March 5 and 11. OSF will choose one dog and an understudy.
