A Talent man was arrested last week for allegedly shooting a sleeping man in the leg, threatening a gas station employee and abusing his ex-girlfriend, police said.

Travis Evan Thomson, 32, of the 600 block of West Valley View Road, is lodged in the Jackson County Jail on charges of second-degree assault, two counts of fourth-degree assault, first-degree menacing, unlawful use of a weapon, two counts of felon in possession of a weapon, coercion and harassment, jail records show. His bail is set at $135,000.

At Thomson's home on Jan. 23, he allegedly shot a sleeping man in the right leg with a small-caliber rifle, a news release from the Talent Police Department said.

Talent police were dispatched to the Chevron gas station, at 301 W.Valley View Road, just after midnight on Jan. 24, for a report of a man suffering from a gunshot wound in the right leg, the release said.

The victim, and Thomson's girlfriend, who was present, were not cooperative with police, and the victim was later treated and released from a hospital, the release said.

On Feb. 2, Talent police again responded to the gas station because Thomson was allegedly threatening an employee who had attempted to intervene in a domestic dispute involving Thomson and his girlfriend, the release said.

Police were unable to locate Thomson and the female victim on Feb. 2 but found her on Feb. 3, and she reported that Thomson had abused her and shot a man in the right leg on Jan. 23.

The identities of the victims are being withheld by police at this point, the release said.
