James Edwin Dedrick Jr. (Jimmy D.) passed away on September 19th 2013 at home in Medford, Ore., after a short battle with cancer. Jimmy D was surrounded by family. He was 60.
Jimmy was born to James E Dedrick Sr., and Anita J. Dedrick on February 16, 1953, in Ithaca N.Y. He moved with his family to Alaska in August 1964, traveling the Alcan Highway with his mother, grandmother and six siblings in a Chevy Greenbrier van. After serving in the Navy in the early 70's Jimmy married Bonnie Stanley on January 16, 1974, together they had four sons: the twins, James III and Jamie, who passed shortly after birth never making it home from the hospital, Andy James and Travis Lee. Jimmy and Bonnie moved the family to the Medford area in 1979, raising the boys in Central Point. Jimmy and Bonnie later divorced, remaining good friends until Bonnie' passing in 2012.
Jimmy married Lindy July 26, 2003, she was the love of his life and stood beside him along with Andy and Travis through his battle with cancer. There was also a special place in Jimmy's heart for his grandchildren, Dante and Aurora whom he loved very much.
Jimmy was a dedicated worker, making a living as a carpenter and having a desirable reputation as a finish carpenter. His latest occupation as building maintenance for the Medford School District quickly earned him a lead position.
Jimmy was a free spirit; he loved riding his motorcycle with his wife Lindy, often taking weekend trips to the Oregon Coast, or wherever their spirits would take them. He was also a member of the Eagles Lodge where he was well respected.
He was preceded in death by his twin sons, James III and Jamie, ex-wife Bonnie, sister Becky, brothers Donnie and Bob, and father James Sr.
Survivors include his wife Lindy, son Andy and fiance Becca, of Medford; son Travis and his wife Nicole; and grandchildren Dante and Aurora of Central Point; mother and life partner Anita Dedrick and Ron Andersen of Kenai, Alaska; brothers Gary and wife Carol of Medford, Dale and wife Pat of Lee, Mass.; and Keith and wife Sue of Central Point. Lifelong friends include Steve Lease of Hawaii, along with many nieces, nephews, friends, and the Stanley family.
