  • The Southern Oregon University football team on Thursday released its 2014 schedule, which includes five home dates and SOU's first meeting with College of Idaho in 46 years.
The Raiders, who went 7-4 overall and 7-3 in the Frontier Conference in 2013, will begin the 11-game regular season slate on Aug. 30 at Menlo College — Southern Oregno's only non-conference opponent. SOU's first home game and Frontier opener is scheduled to be played against defending-champion Carroll College on Sept. 6.
SOU welcomes College of Idaho — a Cascade Conference rival in every other sport — to Raider Stadium on Sept. 20. The teams last met on Sept. 21, 1968, when the Coyotes won 21-14 in Caldwell. This C of I team, under head coach Mike Moroski, will be the first the school has fielded since 1977.
Also coming to Ashland will be Montana-Western (Oct. 11), Rocky Mountain (Nov. 1), and Eastern Oregon (Nov. 15) in the regular-season finale.
The Raiders are 13-1 at home in Craig Howard's three seasons as head coach.
SOU's Frontier Conference road games will be played at Eastern Oregon (Sept. 13), Montana State-Northern (Sept. 27), Carroll (Oct. 18), College of Idaho (Oct. 25) and Montana Tech (Nov. 8).
The annual Red & Black spring game is scheduled for May 3.
