  • Our beautiful Mother has passed to the Lord
    Lucille Williamson passed at her home in Ashland, Ore., January 5, 2014 at the age of 94. She lived all of her adult life in Ashland where she met and married P.R. Limey Williamson, both of who were attending Southern Oregon College. Together they owned Silver Crest Dairy & Creamery in Ashland from 1940 until his death in 1976. They lived and raised their family in the historic two-story farmhouse at 311 North Mountain Avenue. The house was later moved to its present location now known as North Mountain Nature Park.
    Born in Fossil, Ore. February 2, 1919 she was a descendant of the Knox pioneer family that crossed the plains from Knoxville, Tenn. She was the daughter of Leland Jay Knox and Elsie Lydia Knox who both attended school in Fossil, Ore. and later married.
    Lucille was a lifelong student. She graduated from Medford High School in 1937. Lucille attended Southern Oregon College and Oregon State University where she pledged Kappa Delta Sorority. In the 1960s she returned to school at Southern Oregon College and became an enthusiastic student of all things Spanish. She was a charter member of the Amigo Club making many visits to Mexico and attending Amigo Club functions in Ashland. Until recently she was actively attending SOLAR.
    Lucille traveled the world, visiting all major continents from China to Europe and Africa. Her favorite travels were South America where she enjoyed the Spanish culture.
    Lucille was an accomplished musician. She began piano lessons at the age of five and mastered the piano and organ in her 20s and became a member of the musician's union. Lucille often provided the music at the thriving Lithia Hotel, the Elks Club or Callahan's and at other gatherings in Ashland. She was pleased to entertain her many friends and family that attended those functions and continued playing and singing until her passing.
    For years she was a member of the Congregational Church in Ashland and she later attended First Presbyterian Church, serving as an elder. A graveside service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.
    Her children, Donna, Ann and Robert; her 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren, invite her friends and extended family to attend a celebration of life at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church on Walker
    and Siskiyou Blvd.
