Every Sunday evening, Scannalach — Pat O'Scannell on vocals, guitar, whistles and bones and Morgan O'Shaughnessey on fiddle — presents fireside-style, acoustic Irish sessions at Paddy Brannan's Irish Pub, 23 S. Second St., Ashland.

These sessions, held from 6 to 8 p.m., feature a variety of traditional Irish music, including ballads, airs, lullabies, reels and jigs.

"What I love about Irish music is that it ranges from slower, melancholic music to more upbeat songs set to dance melodies," says O'Scannell, who sings in Irish Gaelic and English.

O'Scannell's grandfather on her father's side hails from Tralee, a town in county Kerry, Ireland, and her mother's side of the family is from counties Galway and Clare. The tunes and instrumentals she will present at Paddy's are ones she picked up on her tours and studies of Ireland.
