Medford airport seeding to cut through persistent fog

 Posted: 10:10 AM December 31, 2013

Medford airport crews will conduct fog seeding operations today due to freezing fog conditions producing low visibility.

Intense fog has continued to hamper commercial air travel into and out of the Rogue Valley, Airport Director Bern Case said.

"Each day we've had some cancellations," Case said. "We've got some delays right now; it's been a tough month."

Under Federal Aviation Authority guidelines, seeding activity may run between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Although the seeding is primarily on airport property, adjacent roadways and surfaces can become slippery when the dry ice particles fall to the ground.
