Phoenix police say the man who robbed the Umpqua Bank at 4000 S. Pacific Highway on Monday afternoon made away with approximately $2,300.

Originally described as a white male between 5 feet, 10 inches and 6 feet tall, police expanded the description to a white or Hispanic male approximately 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet.

The robber was dressed in all black with black gloves and black mask covering all but his eyes and the bridge of his nose.

Bank security camera images indicate the robber was wearing a white T-shirt under his hoody and he wore white tennis shoes.

The robber handed a female teller a plastic bag from Walmart and told her she had 60 seconds to fill it.

Witnesses stated the suspect ran westbound on Rose Street into a neighborhood west of the bank's location and then headed on to Barnum Drive. A canine unit from the Jackson County Sheriff's Department attempted to track the suspect, however, the suspect's scent was lost along the Central Oregon & Pacific Railroad tracks which run north to south, west of the neighborhood the suspect was last seen in.

Police Chief Derek Bowker asked the public for help identifying the robber. Any tips can be called into 541-535-1113 ext 0.
