Wells Fargo gives to local schools

 Posted: 12:05 PM December 12, 2013

Wells Fargo provided $1,000 grants for nine Southern Oregon elementary schools.

Schools getting grants include Jackson, Jefferson and Oak Grove elementary schools, all in Medford, Central Point Elementary, Phoenix Elementary, White City Elementary, Walker Elementary in Ashland, Hillside Elementary in Eagle Point and Lincoln Elementary in Grants Pass.

Each principal will decide how to use the unrestricted funds to best benefit students. Wells Fargo also donated a backpack full of school supplies to each school. School officials will either give it to a student who needs a hand or use it as a performance incentive prize.

All the schools receiving these grants are categorized as Title 1, meaning they have a high percentage of students from low-income families.
